Billion Dollar Company by 2014: MindTree’s approach

MindTree, a ten year young Indian IT company aspiring to be a billion dollar company in next 5 years (2014) .Given its feat of becoming a 100 million dollar company was achieved in six years, this target seems to be well within its reach. Although global down turn has come out as an unexpected obstacle, it has drawn out the following approach to realize its dream figure.

MindTree started with two engines of growth – IT services and R & services contributing 75% and 25% revenues respectively. MindTree is well aware that it can not reach its dream number unless it expands scope of its business. Hence it has identified six growth engines to develop. It has acquired Aztec Soft from which they have got two more growth engines namely testing and R & D services (Although MindTree already had R & D, Aztec has made it a bigger pie. Now it has created six profit centre namely IT services, Testing, Infrastructure management and technical support ( IMTS), Knowledge services and Product engineering. Each one of them are run as separate business units ( SBU) and expected to make contribution towards its over goal of becoming a billion dollar company 2014. Good Luck MindTree
