Open Teaching Models: A Research Proposal

Teaching, a process transmitting knowledge, skills and experience from teacher to learners has been in existence since prehistoric days. The nature and scope of this process, and means and methods employed to carry it out have been the reflections of the times and prevailing technologies. In that book-less times of the past, oral method of instructions was in domination and with the arrival of printing press, book-centric education or teaching assumed center stage. The wall-bound class-room model of teaching emerged and exists even today as leading mode of teaching. The prevailing technologies of the times are WWW. With the arrival of WWW, which is not bounded by time, distance often language and is source of free resources,   the nature, scope and challenge of teaching is getting transformed.
