Book Review: Mastering Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing is the idea whose time has come.  Cloud computing is a plenary technology and is already affecting all and has potential for benefiting all. And cloud computing is recognized as one of the top five emerging technologies that will have  impact on the quality of science and society over the next 20 years. As a consequence everyone in the society from kindergarten teacher to executive is required to have adequate knowledge of this emerging area.  The arrival of Mastering Cloud Computing could not have better.

Written by three veterans with equal degree of academic, research and market-oriented exposure the book is really a good resource for everyone interested in cloud computing - be it a researcher, causal reader or business executive. One of the interesting aspect of book in addition to making a very clear presentation of the cloud computing domain is its content on research directions and recommendations for academic adoption. For a teacher looking for a comprehensive book for course adoption and a for a faculty working on introducing a  course in cloud computing - Mastering cloud computing is the first choice and all in one reference. I wish I had this book back in 2010 when I designed and delivered a first course in cloud computing.

One more salient feature of the book is the detailed coverage ( including coding) of Aneka- the innovation award winning PaaS model developed and practiced by one of the authors.

All in all,  for everyone interested in cloud computing and its relevance in all walks of life  Mastering cloud Computing - by Rajkumar Buyya, Christian Vecchiola and Thamarai Selvi must be the reference of choice. It is published by McGraw Hill Education, India
